Operation Christmas Child

It’s that time of year again when the generous people of Postcode Anywhere help put a smile on the faces of less fortunate children.

Through Operation Christmas Child, the Postcode Anywhere team are busily packing shoe boxes with gifts for children in need around the world. Each shoebox is filled with little treasures and trinkets for impoverished children.

Operation Christmas Child was started in 1990 by David Cooke when he saw abandoned children in Romanian Orphanages on TV news and asked friends to help fill a truck with toys to take to Romania. Over the past 22 years, over 94 million shoeboxes have been delivered to needy children in over 100 countries.

A new addition to this annual activity means everyone can print out a barcode and track their shoebox online. Once the shoebox has been processed you are sent an email letting you know which country the shoebox has been sent to.

So far, the team has managed to collect an impressive 25 boxes. Christine Cameron HR manager commented, “It never ceases to amaze me how generous our employees are. We’re all very excited to be taking part in such a wide spread and meaningful activity, especially now that we can track where our shoeboxes go.

“We think Operation Christmas Child is a brilliant project that we recommend others to be part of. For some of these boys and girls, it is the first gift they have ever received.”

There’s no better way to get you in the Christmas mood than packing a shoebox with presents that will bring joy to a child this Christmas. So get to the shops, grab a shoebox and get wrapping!
