Let’s Get Physical for St. Richard’s Hospice

On Saturday 17th September four teams representing Postcode Anywhere will compete in a corporate team-building “fundraising” challenge, held at Top Barn Activity Centre.

Three of our directors, namely Jamie Turner, Rachael Mackwell and Ed Moseley, will be joining the rest of the team to participate in a series of physical challenges.

Just like Mission Impossible, Postcode Anywhere’s participants will not know exactly what their respective missions will be until the actual day. However, let’s hope they do choose to accept them and that they do not cause any covert messages to self-destruct.

Motivating the workforce

The team at St. Richard’s Hospice has developed the event to challenge and motivate workforces across Worcestershire and beyond. Participating teams will complete a variety of team-building activities that aim to bring real benefits to the workplace without the high expense of a corporate away-day. However, there will be one compulsory item on the secret agenda and that will be to have fun.

Teams will be expected to race against the clock to complete challenges and collect the maximum points possible. At Postcode Anywhere our teams are limbering up and preparing themselves to achieve the ultimate fitness levels. I can’t help noticing there has been a distinct scarcity of biscuits and sweets in the office recently as our athletes have embarked upon a serious training regime.

Our Office and HR Manager Christine Cameron, who acted as the pivotal link between St. Richard’s and Postcode Anywhere, is at the peak of her personal fitness. She is a serial sports person, having run several marathons for various charities, notably Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, to name but one.

Team-building activities

Christine said: “We are taking on this challenge because it is for such a good cause and we like the idea of team-building activities. Also, I am really keen to do this because I think St. Richard’s Hospice is a fantastic charity to support and I really appreciated the help they gave when my dad was suffering from cancer just over six years ago.”

Supporting Christine with some added ‘girl power’ is Postcode Anywhere’s Operations Director, Rachael Mackwell. Rachael would admit to having more experience in the equestrian field as opposed to track events, as she is a consummate horse rider as well as a keen skier. She is an extremely fit lady, but has struggled with a back injury for a while, so let’s hope it doesn’t handicap her too much. Rachael is really keen to support St. Richard’s Hospice because similarly to Christine, she has a personal link with the charity which is close to her heart.

Needless to say we are all really proud of our brave team who are going to rise to the corporate challenge to help raise money in aid of a really good cause. I for one will be at Top Barn on Saturday the 17th September supporting my team-mates by cheering them on and applauding their bravery and physical prowess.
