Team members at Postcode Anywhere are really looking forward to rolling out our inaugural Graduate Day which takes place on the 18th July at Worcester Rugby Club, home of the Worcester Warriors.
The day’s itinerary has been devised with the help of The People Experts™, a local recruitment specialist that utilises social media and team exercises to find and assess candidates to make sure the employer and the employee are a perfect fit. Between 30 to 40 candidates will be attending, including graduates from universities throughout the West Midlands including Aston, Birmingham, Keele and Worcester.
For us the day presents an opportunity to share our vision and growth plans with potential employees that are interested in technology as a career. We are of course preparing to move to extensive ‘state-of-the-art’ corporate headquarters on Worcester’s waterfront in Diglis Basin, which is really exciting and big news.
The event is a collaboration between ourselves and The People Experts™ director Tom Leavesley said: “The day is not just about putting the candidates through their paces. It’s more focussed on providing an insight into the culture of Postcode Anywhere to see if they have the right attitudes and mind-set to fit in. Candidates will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills in an informal environment. Our mantra is ‘recruit for attitude and train for skill’.”
From our perspective that day is really about demonstrating what it’s really like to work at a cutting-edge technology company. A career in IT can be very rewarding and the company has an expanding sales and support team. And for those candidates possessing creative skills such as PR, graphic design and copywriting, the marketing department is also growing rapidly.
The senior management team will be on hand during the day to answer any questions the delegates may ask and also to talk about different elements of our operations. For example I will be talking about our CSR programme and how employees are given the opportunity to raise money for specific charities and causes that they might want to support. My line manager Rob Willis will be presenting a snapshot of our forward marketing strategy and highlight opportunities within his department.
It will also present an ideal forum for our MD Guy Mucklow to talk about our future plans, starting off with our move to Diglis Basin where we have the space to spread our roots as it were. Using the tree analogy, so far Postcode Anywhere has been a real ‘acorn to oak’ story with the potential to be an even bigger and more imposing oak.
Postcode Anywhere’s managing director Guy Mucklow, feels that giving candidates an opportunity to learn a little about the culture of the organisation in a more relaxed environment is a really good idea. He said: “Formal interviews often result in the candidate telling an employer what they believe they want to hear. Asking potential employees to take part in team exercises is fun and provides a much better insight into how they will fit into our team. It also lets candidates see the friendly face of the company and decide if they want to be part of our success story.”
The event starts at 12.00 noon on Wednesday 18th July and is being held in the Cecil Duckworth Suite at Sixways Stadium home of Worcester Warriors. The dress code is smart/casual and notepads and pens will be provided. A buffet lunch will also be served. To register for the event please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
