The Great Business Bake Off

Postcode Anywhere has been doing their bit for charity again. By that, I mean eating cake. And lots of it!

Once again the office was transformed into a beautiful French patisserie, with companies from all over the business park popping in to help raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Even Mary Berry herself would have been impressed by this display of cakes, cookies and flapjacks – again highlighting what a multi-talented group of people we have here at Postcode Anywhere who does their utmost to raise money for a good cause.

Cakes for Cancer

Macmillan does a fantastic job at providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support to those who are suffering from cancer.

The annual event first took place in 1990, when a local Macmillan supporters group in the UK decided to hold a coffee morning – as they might ordinarily do – but donated the proceeds of their coffee to Macmillan. The idea seemed simple, yet effective, so they suggested the idea be adopted nationally. The first nationwide World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was then launched in 1991. That year 2,600 people registered to hold coffee mornings across the country. Since then it has raised a staggering £60 million for Macmillan Cancer Support, and has continued to grow every year.

Last year, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning smashed its fundraising target and raised a record-breaking £10 million, which helped fund the Macmillan therapists, nurses and support line workers who make sure people living with cancer have the best team in their corner, every step of the way.

Master Bakers

Our office and HR Manager Christine Cameron, has acted as the pivotal link between Macmillan’s and Postcode Anywhere, and is very passionate about the cause.

“We are delighted to be supporting Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning because it is an extremely worthy cause. It’s something very close to the heart, and after all everyone is affected by cancer at one point or another.”

The day was a great success; we raised just under £100 and ate so much cake that we really couldn’t move for the rest of the day. So there we have it, not only are we good at sorting out your data, were also master bakers!

A big thank you to everyone who contributed with their pennies and bellies! If you would like to make a donation to Macmillan cancer support, please follow the link.
