Having worked at Postcode Anywhere for over four years, I’ve been fortunate to attend my fair share of UK and international tradeshows. Magento in particular raises the bar annually with regards to energy and buzz surrounding the event; testament to Magento and its ever-increasing community of developers.
Luckily, I’m involved with Magento on a regular basis; I exhibited at Meet Magento UK last year, another show which didn’t disappoint, therefore I was delighted to learn of our presence at MagentoLive. Having recently become Silver Industry Partners and launched our new Capture+ integration for Magento – we had even more reasons to attend.
We arrived earlier than expected, so decided to attend the Industry Partner briefing by Ryan Thompson (Director of Partnership at X.commerce). This proved most interesting; my personal highlights included hearing about updates to MagentoConnect coming in 2013. Despite Magento’s rapid growth, it was comforting to experience a real sense of community spirit through the briefing – facilitated by Ryan and his team continually engaging with attendees.
The first day concluded with a warm-up event hosted by WebShopApps.com at Abacus Night Club. Having attended for a few hours, we called time and retired graciously to our beds for much needed sleep in readiness for the big day ahead.
The big day arrived
After a rather shaky start with wrong directions and aching feet it was a relief to have a short break with delegates watching Roy Rubin’s Opening Keynote before the mass influx of interested people during the first breakout session. It was great talking to existing partners – and new ones alike.
This year, we received many enquiries surrounding our new address capture app for Magento – Capture+, including: “Does it work internationally?”, “Does it work with Enterprise Edition?” and “Does it work within the Magento Admin Panel?” it was with great delight we answered “YES!” to all the above.
At the finish line, and just hours away from the much talked about after-show party, we felt a sense of exhaustion – juxtaposed with delight for an overwhelmingly positive and successful event.
Having recharged our batteries we headed to Amber Bar for the after-show party. It was great putting faces to names of those I converse with on a regular basis. Whether ‘kicking back’ and having a good chat over scrumptious canapés, dancing with scantily clad roller-skaters (thanks Magento!) or failing to limbo their way under an excessively low pole; an unforgettable experience was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks Magento – here’s to 2013!
