Helping Heroes – a Piece of Cake for Postcode Anywhere

The thought of stepping into some Lycra or jumping 10,000 feet out of a plane isn’t exactly my idea of a good fundraiser, which is why I was thrilled to hear about the Colossal Cake Sale.

The event takes place on Thursday 5th April, the perfect opportunity to stock up before Easter, and will see the Postcode Anywhere team grab their wooden spoons, put on their aprons, and get baking to raise some money for Help for Heroes.

A worthwhile charity

Help for Heroes is a very worthwhile charity that provides practical support for those soldiers who return from military conflict seriously injured and need to rebuild their lives.

Anyone with a sweet (or savoury) tooth can get involved. Last year saw an overwhelming 184 communities nationwide register to bake, make and create to support our wounded war veterans.

The Colossal Cake Sale has grown amazingly since the first one in 2008 (when only seven events were registered) and this year, Postcode Anywhere hopes to help make this one bigger and better.

Our office and HR Manager Christine Cameron, has acted as the pivotal link between Help for Heroes and Postcode Anywhere, and is passionate about the cause.

A real lifeline

Christine said: “Help for Heroes provides a real lifeline to our Servicemen and women who are willing to sacrifice and even risk their lives for our country.”

“At Postcode Anywhere we firmly believe in everyone doing their bit, and this is a great example where everyone can get involved, whether it’s baking or just eating, while raising money for such a wonderful cause.”

Only one question remains – Rockie Road or English Scone? And if you’re still looking for inspiration – check out these calorie-packed beauties!
